Monte Cecilia House hurdle fence

The Hurdle fence at Monte Cecilia house is dated between 1840 and 1890. In 2009 Artistic Ironwork and Matthews and Matthews Architects began the restoration of the entire 60 metre length of the fence. After decades of neglect the fence was in poor condition and in need of full repair. The restoration was completed over a three month period and involved the removal and repair of the fence in genuine wrought iron using traditional blacksmithing methods.

 
         
 
   
 
 

Auckland Domain nursery Number 09 messanger Glass house

The No 9 Messenger Glasshouse is located in the Auckland domain nursery where it has been since 1932. The restoration of the metal work involved the removal and repair of plant stays and the structural braces from the roof of the glass house. After almost 80 the cast and wrought iron components were severely corroded.
